Job-site files, copied from the truck

Field laptops back up hourly over any connection, including a hotspot.

Field notebooks and a tablet sealed in a clear waterproof bag on a muddy truck tailgate.

Estimates, daily logs and photos are made in the field, on laptops that ride in trucks and sit in trailers. We copy them hourly wherever they connect, and keep closed projects locked off site.

Where field files go missing

  • Laptops left in trucks

A truck break-in takes the week’s logs. Hourly copies restore to a replacement laptop, targeted within 1 business day.

  • Thin job-site connections

Trailers run on hotspots and weak signal. The agent sends only changes and catches up when signal returns.

  • Years of closed projects

Plans, submittals and photos from finished jobs sit on one office NAS. If it fails, they all go together.

  • Phones and tablets

We do not image phones. Site photos are covered once they reach a synced folder or the office server.

Office and field, in 90 days

  1. Days 1 to 5

    Map office and field

We list every laptop, tablet and share, and note which crews work from hotspots or weak signal.

  2. Day 10

    First copies, first restore

Field laptops copy hourly and the NAS has a locked offsite copy. We restore one job folder to prove it.

  3. Each quarter

    Drill a field laptop

We restore a full laptop, a mailbox and an archived project, time each, and report within 3 business days.

Questions from contractors, answered

Do laptops need to come back to the office to back up?

No. Each laptop copies its file changes every hour it is online, over any connection: office Wi-Fi, a home line or a job-site hotspot. Only changed blocks are sent, so a weak signal is enough. If a laptop stops checking in, a person sees the missed jobs and follows up the same business day.

What happens when a laptop is stolen from a truck?

Email support@ezbre.com and we restore that person’s files to a replacement laptop, with a target of 1 business day. Because copies run hourly, the loss is usually the last hour of work. If the laptop held sensitive client or employee files, ask your counsel what you need to report.

Can you back up the project archive we keep on a NAS?

Yes. The Immutable Offsite Copy plan adds a locked copy of the NAS in a second US region, at least 500 miles away, from $15 per TB per month. The lock lasts 30 days by default and up to 1 year. If the NAS is your only copy today, Server Backup adds nightly versions too.

Do you back up phones and tablets?

Windows tablets back up like laptops. We do not image phones or iPads; instead, we make sure the photos and forms they capture land in a synced or shared folder that we copy. During the map step we find each place field data is saved, so nothing lives only on a device.
